H6 Half Day Fort George and Culloden Tour - Four Hours

Jacobite BannerHanoverian BannerWe collect you from your hotel or other location and head eastwards from Inverness towards Culloden taking in terrific views of the Moray Firth and Eilean Dubh, the Black Isle.

On the way to Culloden we will be introducing you to the politics that led to the last major battle fought to be fought on British soil on 16th April 1746.

At Culloden Battlefield itself you will be personally guided with some emotive, but true stories of the battle itself and shown why Charles Edward Stuart and his five thousand men lost their cause to reinstate the rightful monarchy onto the throne of Britain.

Sweet William ... or ... Stinking Willie? You will learn of the significance of the Sweet William flower and the black house and dykes on the battlefield itself.

After the Battle of Culloden the government built the new Fort George to put the Highlanders down once and for all. This incredible fortress is still home to the British army and will be of great interest to anyone fascinated by Scotland's more recent (250 years) military history.

The aftermath of the Battle of Culloden may have seen the kilt banned for ordinary people, but when they joined the armed forces they had to wear the kilt as a uniform, but this time to fight for King George II. Find out more at Fort George.
